If the church is to continue making new disciples, spreading scriptural holiness, and otherwise impacting the world around us for the better, then those efforts must be supported and facilitated regularly.
Many churches fall away from these considerations over time. It is easier to attend to those who are already here, whom we already know, rather than to continually direct our minds towards the unknown.
Yet the Lord continues to call many to glory through His church on the earth. Are we ready to be his instrument of salvation in the lives of new folks who come to us? How do we prepare?
The Missisippi-West Tennessee Conference is aware that many of our local churches need some help jump-starting our ministries towards disciple-making and multiplication. Toward that end, they have partnered with Crosspoint Church in Niceville, FL to host trainings for our people across the conference. The name of this ministry is the Re-Awakening Initiative.
If you are interested to know more about this program and it's creator, Rev. Jeremy Smith, consider Brother Jeffrey's interview with him here: https://youtube.com/live/W5FcpF8i83Y
Our church will be hosting a one-day event for ReAwakening on Sunday, October 18 at 3:00 PM. Other area local churches will be invited to attend, as well. According to the website, this event "equips pastors and church leaders in the Global Methodist Church to renew their focus on disciple-making and mission. It offers workshops, online coaching, and ongoing communities that help churches put these ideas into practice."
This seems like a worthy thing to get behind. Please consider making it a priority to attend this event. To learn more about it, go to https://ms-wtngmc.org/discipleship.
